Cat Nail Trimming Service

Beamsville 4Paw Rescue offers cat nail trimming  in the convenience of your home. No Car Rides, No Carrier, No Anxiety. Services available for cats, rabbits and other small pets (No dogs)

Our goal is to help alleviate fear and anxiety in pets and their families by offering affordable, convenient services in the comfort of their own home. You will be amazed by the difference in anxiety and stress levels when working with your pets inside their home rather than at a clinic.

Trimming a cat’s claws every two to three weeks is an important part of maintaining your pet’s health. Not only does a quick trim protect you, your pet and your family, it can also save your sofa, curtains and other furniture.

How do you know when to trim your pets nails?

Not keeping up with a routine nail trim will lead to their nails getting stuck on any kind of fabric because their nails are too long to fully retract!  You can tell it is time for a nail trim as  you’ll notice lots of small holes in your furniture, clothing…or even yourself! So instead of keeping their claws safely tucked away while they’re walking around the house (or on your chest) they can’t help but have them out.

Not trimming your cats nails will grow to a point where they are painful for the cat or may even curl back into their toe or into their paw pad. In some cases, long nails may get torn out and cause bleeding, infection or other problems for the cat. This is most important in polydactyly cat (6 toes) and especially in older cats.

Signs & Symptoms of Torn Toenail in Cats

Often, the only way that you will know something is wrong with the cat is by the presence of blood drops around the home. A torn toenail may bleed sporadically for hours. Other signs to watch for include:

  • Licking paw excessively
  • Crying
  • Jagged appearance of claw
  • Bloody or Swollen paw
  • Limping
  • Pain when paws are touched

In more serious cases of torn toenail or if a nail grows into the paw, your cat can have an infection or inflammation. Fever, loss of appetite, swelling, pus, or seeping blood on the paw are all signs that a bacterial infection is present.
