Abandoned House (Dunnville)

30 cats, 6 dead, 24 hurt or sick, were rescued from an abandoned farmhouse in Dunnville

On Monday, January 13th, 2020 Beamsville 4Paw Rescue received a call from a local Dunnville resident asking for help. She said there were over  cats, dumped off at an old abandon house and left to die.

The caller said a local lady who was evicted from her rental house in October, dumped the cats at the abandoned house. A  taxi picked her and the crate of cats, and helped  dump then off. She left one bag of food, and wrote HELP on the door and left.

Tuesday, Jan 14th we arrived and were devastated. The cats were hurt, starving, all had wounds  and some did not survive. These cats were NOT Feral, No Winter Coat, and the paws were soft from being indoors but cut from the broken glass in the house.

NO Water, NO Food and No warmth.
After getting permission from the property owners that day, we were able to start our rescue mission.

We needed answers, so we went to the Media for help!

Immediately 6 came running to us begging for food, water and in desperate need of care.
It was heart breaking as we picked them up, their were skin and bones, starving, dehydrated,  and yet they started to purr rubbing up next to us as to say Thank-You.

.

The rest have given up on human kindness and scattered in the holes in the walls and ceilings. We had to set up traps and many volunteers devoted their time in hopes of rescuing them before they Died.

It was devastating when we started to go upstairs, holes in the walls, glass from broken windows and no place for them to get warm.

All required immediate vet care that cost the rescue over $11,000 but it was worth it to save these poor abandoned cats.
